The Rossland Youth Service Group is a group of socially conscious youth who are committed to making a difference in the world. We support local and international organizations by promoting awareness and fundraising for their cause, both locally and internationally.
The RYS Group is a project of the Rossland Youth Action Network.
On Feb 24, the Rossland Youth Service Group will be camping out overnight to raise awareness about homelessness issues in our area. Through our efforts we will also be raising funds for the Getting to Home Project in Trail, BC. We will be setting up in Harry LeFevre Square, prominently located on Rossland's main street. From 6pm Feb 24 until 8am Feb 25, we will be camping in the square. We will have poster boards with facts about homelessness and will invite passerbys to engage with us about this issue. Our goal is not to come away thinking we know what it might be like to be homeless - we understand that this experience in no way reflects what it is like to be truly without a place to stay. We hope to have the opportunity to raise awareness, break stereotypes and challenge misconceptions about homelessness.
